February 16: FANGORIA meets Lizzie Borden?!
On March 4 and 5, paranormal investigators for the new
FangoriaTV HD channel series GHOST STORIES EVP will descend
upon 92 Second Street in Fall River, MA in an attempt to
contact the spirits of Andrew and Abby Borden. In 1892, the
married couple were the victims of an ax-wielding maniac, who
many believed to be their daughter, Lizzie Borden, a
26-year-old spinster.
Through a process known as Electronic Voice Phenomena
(popularized in the recent hit film WHITE NOISE) and utilizing
a huge range of scientific analysis equipment including heat
sensors, infrared lighting and ultra-sensitive microphones,
the experienced investigators will attempt to deduce an answer
from the beyond regarding the events that led to Mr. and Mrs.
Borden’s unfortunate demises. Lizzie was tried for the crimes
but acquitted, and the question of her guilt will forever
remain clouded by uncertainty. Lizzie’s salacious trial set
the tone for future criminal proceedings including more recent
sensational murder trials, where the accused were presumed
guilty by the public at large, but found innocent by their
peers. Lizzie lived in seclusion for the remainder of her
life, not far from the Borden crime scene, and never admitted
any wrongdoing, despite her oft-peculiar behavior.
In a statement, paranormal investigator Garrett Husveth
(pictured) explains what to expect from the two-day haunt
jaunt: "We hope to establish some kind of communication with
any discarnate entities on our initial trip to the Lizzie
Borden house. As with most of our field research, we’ll be
combining age-old parapsychological protocols with modern high
technology on this investigation. This includes surveillance
systems, remote digital thermometers, advanced voice analysis
software, magnetometers and computers. Much of our evidence
analysis will be taking place on site. Either via Electronic
Voice Phenomena or physical phenomena, we hope to come away
from the investigation with building blocks for our case of a
haunting at the Lizzie Borden house."
Husveth and partner Al Rauber are two of America’s premier
"ghost hunters" and have completed hundreds of sessions
throughout North America and Europe. The men are also regular
advisors to many TV shows, networks and movies including
UNSOLVED MYSTERIES, ENCOUNTERS, THE OTHER SIDE, SIGHTINGS, The
History Channel, Fox and the Travel Channel, among others.
